Provo firefighters reported the dump truck failed to beat the oncoming train over the tracks at approximately 1600 North and Geneva Road. The train struck the dump truck's trailer at approximately 11:30 a.m. No injuries were reported.

 
Old wooden water pipe unearthed in A.F. Print

A bit of American Fork history surfaced recently.

Contractors were digging along 200 East to place a pipe for the main distribution line for the city's pressurized irrigation system when they found historic pipes and a concrete culvert under the road. They uncovered two segments of wooden pipe in different sizes that combined for 12 to 15 feet in length.

Feds offer docs bonuses to put the pen away Print

More than 1.5 million people are hurt each year because they receive the wrong prescriptions, often because pharmacists misinterpret the famously illegible scribble on doctors' notes. The federal government announced this week it will try to curb the problem by offering doctors incentives to use electronic prescription systems instead.
