Walsh Act's flaws

The Adam Walsh Act was passed as federal law in 2006 with the stipulation that all states comply with it by 2009. Failure to comply will result in the loss of federal funding.

Capitol maneuvers

Rep. Jim Matheson is getting a lot of mileage out of his vote against the bailout package, but it is largely undeserved. Before the vote on final passage there were two procedural votes which actually decided the fate of the bill, and on both those votes Matheson voted with Speaker Nancy Pelosi to prevent any amendments to the bill.

Boycott 'Blindness'

I call on all responsible citizens to boycott all theaters showing the movie "Blindness." This movie is morally reprehensible in its portrayal of the visually challenged.

Safety tip

Every morning I take a walk of a few miles. Along Indian Hills Drive I see many children on bicycles or walking often with parents to school. They blend in with the background scenery. There are no sidewalks.

We deserve it!

Holy Marxism, Batman!

It would be funny were it not so sad: politicians running for cover, claiming they had nothing to do with the bad loans made possible by Fannie and Freddie -- and in the next breath insisting that no foreclosures must occur.

Enjoy the colors

If you haven't already taken advantage of seeing the breath-taking fall colors up Provo Canyon, it is well worth the price of a little gas to drive just as far as the South Fork turn-off. The vibrant colors are at their prime and may not last too long.
