Running scared

With the selection of Sarah Palin as vice president, John McCain has the Democrats running scared. As some have said, they are scrambling frantically trying to dig up a compelling pile of dirt on her to neutralize her electrifying entrance onto the national political scene.

Crosswalk trap

I would like to comment on your editorial last week concerning stepped up police enforcement of crosswalks. I believe the police practice of positioning a decoy at a crosswalk in order to catch unsuspecting motorists is simply a crosswalk trap.

Provo-BYU discord

BYU needs Provo, and Provo needs BYU. Wed in 1875, the 133 years of this historic marriage between City and University can offer at least one insight -- there will always be problems, even in the happiest of marriages.

McCain's flawed leadership

Looks like McCain has a new woman as an attack dog. Not only does he have the ethically-questionable aid of the extremist Karl Rove aiding him, but he also has a woman now to hide behind who will say anything to push the conservative agenda. The saddest part is that because she is a woman, they huddle behind her an lob such deceitful ploy as, "How dare you speak that way about a woman!"

Smoking gun?

My conclusions about who was the smoking gun is still Brigham Young. When one reads the account found in his daily Journal dated Sept. 1st. 1857 ( page 41) . It reads as follows:

Utah's gasoline prices

Just an interesting observation on Utah County gas prices. We are presently paying around $3.79 per gallon for regular gas and the barrel price is around $102 per barrel. Last April 2 the barrel price was $102 and the Utah County pump price was $3.25 per gallon. I wonder if an official from the petroleum group in Utah would care to comment on the difference.

Festival disappointment

Our family has always loved the 4th of July. This year was special to us because we had a granddaughter performing with the Stadium of Fire Dancers, as well as in the parade.

Thanks, Coach!

I would like to thank the Daily Herald for the article regarding the OHS football alums assisting Coach Westover with a new driveway.
