Mstar, a triple-play digital phone, video and Internet service provider on the iProvo and Utopia fiber-optic networks, moved its corporate headquarters from Murray to Orem. The new 10,000-square-foot office at 727 N. 1505 East, suite 350 in Orem is twice the size of Mstar's former headquarters and will allow the 100-worker company to expand its customer service call center, field technician, installation and engineering departments.
The Orem headquarters includes conference and engineering rooms and a large customer service area. An open house and ribbon cutting will be held May 8 at 2 p.m. Matt Clayton, Mstar's spokesman, said the company, now more centrally located in Utah, will better serve the tens of thousands of Mstar subscribers on iProvo and Utopia, or the Utah Telecommunications Open Infrastructure Agency networks. "Making this move will be a crucial step in improving the level of service for our customers," said Mstar CEO Ben Gould. "We were in the northern-most end of where our customers are. Now we're in the middle, and closer to customers in 15 cities along the Wasatch Front from Payson through Tremonton. Most of Provo is already serviceable and Utopia is now starting to be built out in Lindon," Clayton said. To help increase its subscription rate and encourage the development of more locally-produced video content, Mstar plans to offer free television channels to at least seven Utah high schools including Provo, Orem, Payson, Mountain View, Timpview, Pleasant Grove and Murray over the next few months. "These channels will be completely dedicated to the school, meaning they can put anything they want, including their school plays, films produced by students, sports games etc. on those channels," Clayton said. "Mountain View, for example, can put their basketball game on the channel and it will be available to Mstar subscribers."
