Confusing roads causing real traffic trouble |

While attending BYU, I have lived in Provo for the past four years. Although I have seen changes in certain intersections to make them safer, I am still wondering why others that need to be clarified have been left alone.
For instance, the intersection at University Avenue and 800 North seemed to always have problems. It began to have higher traffic during the day, especially rush hour. It was altered -- they put in left turn signals and a right turn lane. These improvements have definitely helped lower the accident rate there. Meanwhile, a block south it seems that nobody knows which lane goes where while heading west on 700 North. I have lived near that intersection for three years, and it has never been clarified. Many people think there is a left turn and a straight/right turn lane. Others think there is a left turn/straight lane and a right turn lane. Well, what is it? If you went to driving school, you would know that it should be the latter. But this confusion has been the cause of many accidents and Provo officials need to do something about it.
