Provo city will comply with a request by the state Auditor's Office for documents related to financial allegations tied to it's fiber-optic system.
Complaints were received by the Auditor's Office claiming that iProvo service providers are in "serious delinquent status."
Before complying with the request, the city's attorneys first had to go through its non-disclosure agreements with its service providers, Nuvont/Veracity and Mstar, to ensure they weren't stepping into a legal morass.
The city's year-end financial report shows a serious delinquency, according to some council members.
The fiber system, though lauded as far-seeing, has been far from financially stable. It's millions of dollars short of projections and its first service provider went bankrupt.
The city recently held a meeting to brainstorm ideas that will bring iProvo into the black.
The audit specifically requests Provo's accounts receivable records related to iProvo from January 2005 through December 2007, as well as the city's tape recordings of closed meetings from July 2007 through December 2007. |
