Man charged in fatal auto-pedestrian accident |

A 21-year-old construction worker was charged with negligent homicide after he lost control of his vehicle in the snow and ice and slid into a pedestrian in Spanish Fork.
Gabriel Hernandez, of Orem, was leaving a construction site in Spanish Fork around noon on Thursday when his vehicle started to slide in the snow and slush on the road near 2000 East and 100 South, according to police. The vehicle slid into an 83-year-old man who was checking his mail, killing him.
Police are not releasing the identity of the victim pending notification of family members.
Hernandez was arrested and booked into the Utah County Jail on charges of negligent homicide, driving on a denied driver's license and no vehicle insurance.
Police said Hernandez has been cooperative. Blood and urine tests showed no signs of drugs or alcohol use by Hernandez, police said. |
