Murray High School Junior David Archuleta is back to wowing the judges on FOX's "American Idol" after a flubbed performance last week.
On Tuesday, Archuleta sang a rendition of The Beatles' "The Long and Winding Road," which typically hard-nosed judge Simon Cowell called "amazing." He said the performance was "a master class" in how to sell a song and make a performance memorable.
During weekly results shows, contestants are eliminated by popular vote among the show's viewers. On Wednesday's show, host Ryan Seacrest told Archuleta he'll need to get used to screaming girls because he's staying on the show.
Amanda Overmyer, a nurse from Indiana, was eliminated. There are now 10 contestants left, including Archuleta and fellow member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Brooke White of Mesa, Ariz.
A week earlier, Archuleta forgot the lyrics during his performance of "We Can Work It Out," also by The Beatles. Paula Abdul, who is also a judge on the show, said Archuleta's ability to overcome such a flop shows he has character.
Archuleta and the remaining contestants will perform again Tuesday night at 7 p.m. on FOX, channel 13.
