Chelsea Cooper was crowned Miss Payson 2008 with Shaelyn Riding and Sadie Gurley named as her attendants on Saturday, March 22 after a night of singing, dancing, and spontaneous questioning.
The pageant began with eight beautiful contestants--Sadie Gurley, Chelsea Cooper, Amanda Skinner, Hilary Stanton, Brianne Kent, Britney Adamson, and Heather Hiskey-performing a darling dance routine as Lauren Burton, Miss Payson 2007, sang.
The pageant was held in Payson High s Auditorium, which was transformed into a desert of neon lights. The Miss Payson hopefuls started the night off in colorful swimsuits as they strutted their stuff in the lifestyle and fitness competition.
The contestants were then asked on the spot questions in the onstage interview. After answering their questions, the girls showed off their abilities in the artistic expression competition.
The pageant concluded with the contestants gracefully parading in beautiful evening wear.
Chelsea Cooper, who claimed the title of Miss Payson, added a splash of color to the pageant with her colorful apparel. Chelsea looked absolutely stunning as she sang in her beautiful yellow dress and paraded in her hot pink bathing suit. She also blew the crowd away as she articulately described how music has connected different generations in the onstage interview.
Shaelyn Riding, who won the honor of first attendant, performed an amazing piano solo in the talent portion of the competition. During the presence and poise competition, Shaelyn floated across the stage in her shimmery coral gown which was made by her mother.
Sadie Gurley, second attendant in this year s competition, elegantly displayed her yellow, beaded dress in the presence and poise competition. Sadie also wowed the crowd with a charming jazz dance complete with a small costume change.
Brianne Kent eloquently answered her onstage question, What is the biggest problem facing the family today, then went on to sing a delightful song entitled We Can.
Hilary Stanton showed off her flexibility as she performed a gymnastics dance during the talent portion of the competition. She also defined success with ease during the onstage interview.
Heather Hiskey performed a fun salsa routine to Kongo in a flashy red dress. Her evening gown, which was also red, was defiantly one of the most remarkable dresses of the night.
Britney Adamson performed a moving monologue during the talent competition. Britney also showed off her presence and poise in a cute yellow halter dress.
Amanda Skinner showed off her incredible dancing technique in the talent competition. She also voiced her opinion about alcohol laws for teens during her onstage interview.
All of these lovely ladies did an absolutely wonderful job. They spent countless hours of time in preparation for this event, and they looked great.
