Each student should be looked upon as an individual not as one of a class. Each child deserves to have a year's growth regardless of where they start. All students should have the opportunity to start learning at their scholastic level in all subjects. It takes a lot of extra time to develop curriculum that reaches all students this way, but I believe it is the only way to teach. All of my students deserve, regardless of their ability, to succeed every way they can.

This year, I have had the wonderful opportunity to teach the extended day kindergarten here. I truly love my job. These students have taught me so much! I have learned that persistence and caring go a long way. Every child is different in his or her own way, but every child deserves the best education that can be offered.

I believe that there are many responsibilities held by a teacher that extend far beyond covering the core curriculum. A teacher should inspire a love of learning, share the magic of books, challenge each child, and help each child see that who they are makes a difference.

I love my job. I have the best job in education and work with the best people and students. I have always felt strongly that every child should have a quality education. As a teacher, I feel it is my responsibility to provide the best possible environment, techniques and opportunities for each of my students. I believe that Dr. Seuss' Horton the elephant said it best, "I believe in you all. A person's a person no matter how small."

In the fourteen years that I have been a professional educator, I have learned something every day. My entire teaching philosophy is based on that one principle, LEARN. "In learning we will teach, and in teaching we will learn' is a quote by Phil Collins that I live by. Ever-increasing learning is my main objective. Increased student learning results in better performance, both academically and socially. Increased learning by teachers creates excellent teaching.

Parents are an important part of education. I have tired to include parents from the very beginning of each year and let them know where their child stands and what we need to do to help each child achieve his/her potential. Working with a team also helps better the education of the students and the school. We all need to be on the same page, working to achieve the highest goals for our class and the school.

We are here for the children! I believe that all children can learn but at their learning level. I believe in differentiated lessons to reach all of the different levels of ability. Children need to know that they are successful and can accomplish anything that they put their mind to. We need to remember all children are different and we are their coaches and they are our players!

I love children of all ages and want to help them in any way I can. I want to be a role model and influence children in a positive way and help them realize their dreams. Walt Disney said, "If You Can Dream It, You Can Do It!" I want every student in my class to believe that. I love the feeling I get when the "light" goes on in the eyes of a child when he/she "gets it."

In high school I had a teacher that brought history to life. I looked forward to class every day anticipating what might happen. I desired to instill that excitement in others. I want students to be enthusiastic about learning and achieving their potential. I get so excited to share with my students something new I learned. When we show, through our enthusiasm and energy, how much we love learning and love people, we motivate others to become life long learners eager to contribute in positive ways.
