2010 National Boy Scout Jamboree rallies -- The Boy Scouts of America will celebrate its 100th anniversary at the 2010 National Scout Jamboree and many local scouts and leaders will be there to help in the celebration. This event will be held July 23 through Aug. 4, 2010 at Fort A.P. Hill, Va.

There will be two Jamboree rallies held in the north Utah County area for scouts and parents to get more information and to sign up for the nine-day event. Utah National Parks Council is recruiting 540 scouts to participate.

The first rally will be Thursday, April 24, at 7 p.m. at the LDS Church at 270 N. 900 East, American Fork. The second will be held Thursday, May 1, at 8:30 p.m. at the LDS Church at 650 E. 3200 North, Lehi.

Those who are interested but cannon attend a rally are encouraged to contact Larry Gordon at 756-7031. Registration forms and information can also be downloaded from the council Web site at www.utahscouts.org.

Scholarship workshops -- A free college scholarship workshop will be held today at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the University of Phoenix Provo Campus, 511 E. 1860 South, Provo.

Information presented at the workshop is general and not specific to any college university, offering a great opportunity for graduating seniors, parents, or anyone looking to go back to school to gain valuable information about where to get money for education.

County Health Fair -- The Utah County Health Department, with the help of the Utah National Guard, will be encouraging families to Arm Yourself Against Disease during National Infant Immunization Week, April 21 to 25.

On Tuesday, April 22nd, the UCHD will hold a special health fair with exhibits from the Utah National Guard, games, drawings for bikes and other prizes, and displays for kids ages¬ up to age 5. The fair will be held at the Utah County Health and Justice Building from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m..¬  For more details, go to www.UtahCountyHealth.org or call 851-7025. ¬ ¬ 

Plan now for Utah County Fair -- Belva Parr, open class supervisor for the Utah County Fair, said "now is the time for gardeners to plan for the Fair." As gardeners pick out and plant seeds, they should consider what they want to enter in the County Fair and plan their planting accordingly, she advised. Home gardeners will have the opportunity to exhibit the best their skill can produce.

Open class is for exhibitors of hand work, home grown produce, baking, canning and other home arts.

The Utah County Fair is later in the year than it has been in the past few years. The Utah County Fair opens mid-day Aug. 13 and closes after the fireworks Aug. 16.

Democratic Women to clean up -- The Democratic Women of Utah County will be cleaning up the highway Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. at the Red Robin Parking Lot at the Provo Towne Centre. Interested community members are welcome to join in this service effort. Water and snacks will be provided. Wear gloves.

The local group cleans up the highway between Springville and Provo two to three times a year in an effort to protect the environment and beautify the area.
