Mtn. View Hospital Auxiliary holds jewelry sale Print E-mail
Vern C. Gillmore - SPANISH FORK PRESS

The Mtn. View Hospital Scholarship Auxiliary held its annual jewelry sale last Thursday and Friday in the hospital's Continuing Care day room. To entice the buyer, almost all jewelry, including watches, brooches, wallets, rings, handbags, etc., sold for six dollars. Buyers were most enthusiastic about the amazing bargains. The purpose of the sale was to earn enough money to provide college scholarships to local high school seniors and hospital employees who are furthering their education in the health care field. Last year's recipients were from Spanish Fork, Springville, and Payson high schools, as well as employees of Mtn. View Hospital.

The scholarship committee began over 25 years ago, and last year alone awarded more than 18 scholarships. The committee is administered by Volunteer Coordinator Judy Stanton. Stanton is constantly thinking up new and better ways to earn money for qualified recipients. Along with the jewelry sale, she regularly puts on a Valentine's Day candy sale as well as a Halloween "sweet" sale, a "basket" raffle, a book fair, and much more. Local residents are regularly looking for her sales since they know they will be able to get great gift items at a bargain price. Hospital employees love to hear about another of her "sales" since they take place right there at the hospital where they work. Stanton said that all sales are made possible by the great assistance of hospital volunteers.

The future looks bright for offering more scholarships for many years to come.
