$45,000 awarded to UVSC faculty and staff -- The Utah Valley State College Foundation recently awarded $45,000 to faculty and staff across campus to support individual projects. The total amount awarded was $10,000 more than the total awarded in 2007.

Of the 25 proposals submitted, more than half of the applicant projects were funded, providing grants to 13 faculty and staff members.

In accordance with the institution's goal to promote student success, the Exceptional Merit Grant Program was created to support faculty and staff in creative endeavors that would enhance the learning environment for UVSC students. Since its establishment in 1997, the Foundation has awarded more than $422,000 to assist 155 projects with up to $5,000 each.

This year's grant recipients are a follows:

Olga Kopp, Science and Health; Virginia E. Bayer, Science and Health; Todd Low, Auto Technology; Happiness Peterson, General Academics; Matthew Horn, Science and Health; Mary Ellen Larsen, Wee Care Center; Chinami Yammamoto, Foreign Language Department; Christopher Clark, Theatre; Hsiu-Chin Chen, Nursing Department; Dianne McAdams-Jones, Nursing Department; Philip Matheson, Science and Health; Nichole Ortega, Dance; Hsiu-Chin Chen, Nursing Department.
