Eureka land owner's trees stolen Print E-mail
Daily Herald

Bill White of Goshen has lost some trees. He didn't just lose them - someone took them. White and his family were preparing some land a few miles west of Eureka for building a home. They had carefully removed the trees that would be in the way of the new building. They had left some of the larger pinyon pines for shade. Last Thanksgiving, the last time they were there, everything was as they had planned. When they got there this week, about fifteen trees were missing.

It appears that the trees were cut some time ago - possibly last fall before snowfall. The stumps and debris are dry and cracked. Someone left two 16 inch tires at the site, but there are no fresh tire tracks. The trimmed limbs and stumps are obvious, but there is not much to indicate who did the deed. The scene appears as though someone was looking for posts. The trees that were cut were too big for Christmas trees.

White has reported the incident to the Juab County Sheriff's office. If anyone knows who may have cut the trees, they should contact the Juab County Sheriff's office.

It is illegal to cut trees on either private or public land without permission. There are a number of locations on State and Federal lands where cutting may be done by permit. For information, contact the Utah State Government, The Bureau of Land Management, or the U. S. Forest Service.
