Lehi Area Chamber luncheon

The monthly Lehi Area Chamber luncheon will be May 6 at noon at Mellor Hidden Meadows, 877 N. 100 East, Lehi.

 

Joel Racker, president and chief executive officer of the Utah Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau, Inc, will be the guest speaker.

Prior to joining the UVCVB in 2003, Racker was employed with Marriott International of Bethesda, Maryland for 17 years in various sales and marketing and general management positions. He is an executive board member for the Utah Travel Industry Coalition, serves on the Western Association of Convention and Visitor Bureaus Board and the Provo/Orem Chamber of Commerce Board.

A native of Roy and Highland resident, Racker received a bachelor degree in business management/marketing from Brigham Young University in 1986.

Lauret earns honor

Debby Lauret, American Fork Chamber Executive and Economic Developer, was named volunteer of the year for the Utah Scholars program sponsored by the State Board of Regents, State Board of Education, and the Office of the Governor. She was honored at an awards dinner on April 22 at Salt Lake City Community College. Lauret made more than 20 presentations to eighth and ninth graders in North Utah County from Lindon to Lehi encouraging youth to take challenging course work that would prepare them for college and the workforce.

DownEast opens AF location

Utah-based DownEast Outfitters opened a store in American Fork on April 17. The new story, DownEast's fifth store in Utah County and 21st overall, is located at 34 N. 600 West Suite E-4 southeast of Target near Mr. Mac in the Meadows shopping center.

DownEast Clothing Outlet carries clothing from brand-name national retailers as well as DownEast's own Basics line. The brand-name merchandise typically sells at 40-80 percent off national prices, and includes jeans, tops, shoes, outerwear, and accessories from top-selling retail brands.

Abby Howard has been selected as the Manager of DownEast's new American Fork location along with 4 other local employees.
