Prices aren't rising,
they're being raised |

I think it is time to stop saying, "Gas (and other) prices are rising." This implies that the prices are like weeds or the tides in the ocean. Prices are not rising, they are being raised by the persons who have the power and greed to do so.
It is totally unfair that merchants can raise prices to offset the prices they have to pay to their suppliers, who raise their prices to offset the prices that growers and manufacturers have raised, and so on.
Meanwhile, we consumers, who can't raise our salaries, have to sit and take it in the pocketbook with no recourse, except boycott.
The quote on Page B4 of the Daily Herald on April 26-- " ... prices are going to go where they want to go at this point" -- is absolutely ridiculous. But if we define the word "they" as meaning the merchants, it is understandable. It is almost obscene the power they have over the consumers.
