El Siboney
This Lindon restaurant is the first franchise location of an eatery from Key West, Fla., and that's not the only thing that makes it unique.
Cuban food is full of spices and flavor combinations you may not have tried, such as roast pork with onions and a spicy sauce, lime on steak and mahi-mahi, or a side of yuca, a starchy root -- kind of like a stringy potato.
All these flavors are different and hard to describe, but it adds up to an adventurous dining experience. We loved the Siboney Steak and haven't had such flavorful black beans anywhere.
Meals cost $11, on average, and the selection of desserts includes key lime pie, flan and several puddings.

Tango House
It's an Argentine menu here, and one thing the Argentines do well is beef.
There are several meat dishes here, none like the American steak, and they were tasty and tender.
We especially liked the skewers of beef and vegetables called Brochette, served on a bed of rice seasoned with butter and Parmesan. Our favorite side was the garlic and herb french fries, which are extra flavorful. Most main dishes are between $8 and $12.
For dessert, try anything with dulce de leche, a tasty caramel sauce.

La Taqueria
We weren't expecting much from a place that sells 99-cent tacos, but La Taqueria serves up a variety of Mexican dishes with an eye for presentation.
The dishes are drizzled with decorative strings of sour cream or chili sauce even though they're served on disposable plates. The result is an excellent meal for a small price.
La Taqueria serves favorites such as enchiladas, burritos and tacos, but also serves sopes, huaraches and gorditas if you're feeling like something new. Most main dishes are between $2 and $5.
