Funeral service for drowned man to be held Saturday Print E-mail
DAILY HERALD

A graveside service for Thomas Stephen Bowers will be held at noon on Saturday at Orem City Cemetery.

Bowers's body was found in the Provo River near the mouth of Provo Canyon on Sunday afternoon. An autopsy showed that Bowers drowned, and Orem police believe he was trying to cross the river while intoxicated and fell in.

Bowers, 51, was a homeless man who lived in a tent along the bike trail in Provo Canyon. He supported himself by collecting aluminum cans and other items to sell to local recycling centers. Bowers was a familiar face to people in the area, who often saw him walking up and down University Avenue over the past few years.

Burial arrangements are being handled by Walker Sanderson Funeral Home in Orem.
