• The Grant Institute's Grants 101: Professional Grant Proposal Writing workshop will be held in Salt Lake City from May 12-14. Interested development professionals, researchers, faculty and graduate students will be given an introduction to the process, structure and skill of professional proposal writing. • The Utah Office of Tourism and the Utah Tourism Industry Coalition will host their 5th annual Utah tourism conference from May 12-14 featuring Roger Dow, president and chief executive of the Travel Industry Association. He will speak at the conference on May 14 on the power of travel, a $740 billion industry in the United States. Dow has served in his present position since January 1, 2005. Other topics to be discussed include: an economic outlook for Utah tourism, green tourism, Local First Utah, hospitality, scenic byways, and a marketing and advertising update from the Utah Office of Tourism. Nominations are also being accepted for the Utah Tourism Hall of Fame Awards that will be presented at the closing luncheon. Location: Hilton Salt Lake City Center, 255 S. • Brigham Young University will host a conference from May 12-14 to discuss the basics of facility management as it pertains to the use of the Sprocket program. The conference is geared toward current users of the software, but will be a useful training and networking event for all facility managers. Topics to be covered include work management, online work order requests, preventative maintenance, inventory management, inspections, mobile devices, e-mail notifications and reporting. Location: BYU Conference Center, 900 East and University Parkway, Provo. Cost: Registration is $699, which includes presentation handouts, a certificate of attendance and daily breakfast, lunch and snacks. • The Salt Lake Real Estate Investors Association will host a free workshop featuring speaker Wendy Patton, a licensed real estate broker and builder. • The University of Utah's Center of Excellence in Women's Health will host a free health fair for women. The Women's Health Fair is being held in conjunction with National Women's Health Week, May 11-17. Attendees can visit 13 rooms, each devoted to a different health issue, and obtain information on that topic, a list of resources for getting help or treatment in that area, and a screening tool to assist with knowing if one is at risk and should seek further advice. Each room will be staffed by a University Health Care physician, nutritionist, physical therapist, nurse or other specialist who can answer questions. Attendees can learn about Utahhealthnet, an online resource for finding health information throughout the state. Location: University Health Care's Madsen Health Center, 555 S.
