Hooray for the U.S. border patrol Print E-mail
Daily Herald

Congress will not solve illegal immigration; hooray for the U.S. Border Patrol! It has accomplished what the Congress of the United States has failed to do, namely, stemming the tide of illegal immigration across our southern border. A recent Herald article proclaimed "Mexican Migrants Giving Up." Due to a variety of measures, illegals are getting the message that it is not worth it to cross the border in violation of the law.

The numbers of unlawful crossings has been cut so dramatically that there is beginning to be a shortage of migrant workers, and steps need to be taken to allow for necessary legal immigration. But don't wait for Congressional action on the problem. The members of Congress are too absorbed with re-election to tackle such a hot-button issue.

So what Congress has not the courage to do, everyday American citizens have taken on themselves, demonstrating once again that the solution to our nation's ills is not in the hallowed halls of Washington, DC; it is in the ingenuity and hard work of its people, who labor in the trenches every day to keep America safe and free.

Just getting all of the illegal aliens out of Wendys and back into the fields will solve that problem!

Federal authorities charged that a methamphetamine laboratory was operating at the nation's largest kosher slaughterhouse and that employees carried weapons to work.

The charges were among the most explosive details to emerge following the massive raid Monday at Agriprocessors in Postville, Iowa.
