Come support Mapleton firemen Saturday, May 17, at the annual Fireman's Breakfast. The breakfast will be held at the Mapleton Fire Station, located at 35 E. Maple in Mapleton. Breakfast will be served from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. The cost will be $4 per person or $15 per family, with a limit of 6.

They will be serving ham and eggs with pancakes, milk and orange juice. This breakfast has always been a big success in years past.

Come out and have breakfast with your family and friends, and support the Mapleton Fire Department.

At 9 a.m. the Mapleton Shade Tree Committee will conduct a short Arbor Day program at the Mapleton City Park across from the fire station. Mapleton City will receive a growth award and Tree City USA certificate from a representative of the State Lands and Forestry Department. Other events include a visit from Smokey Bear.

The commission will also give away two bicycles to the winners of the Tree Poster contest -- "Trees Are Terrific, Inside and Out." There will also be a tree planting and tree seedlings will be given away.

There will also be a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new playground equipment and the two new pavilions at the city park.
