Aerospace-O-Rama -- The Utah National Parks Council is hosting a Scout Aerospace-O-Rama this weekend, May 16-17, at the West Desert Airpark in Fairfield. Friday night's program starts at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday's program starts at 7a.m.

It will draw approximately 4000 scouts and leaders. Some of the highlights include a keynote speech by former Senator Jake Garn, a devotional by LDS General Young Men President Dahlquist, hot air balloons, model rocket launching, air show with WWII aircraft, jet flyovers, Miss Utah and the Afghanistan Orphanage Project, educational aerospace booths, etc.

Habitat builds 30th home -- Habitat for Humanity of Utah County has reached its 30th home milestone allowing the local affiliate to build one home on year with homeowner mortgage payments alone.

The two-story, four-bedroom, two-bathroom home, located at 159 E. 800 South in Orem, was built with Leo and Andrea Atene and their three children with help from students from BYU Construction Clubs and many other wonderful community volunteers.

To celebrate this accomplishment, a ribbon cutting and open house will be held Saturday at 5 p.m. at the Orem home.

Booster seat inspections -- Free car and booster seat inspections will be given by Certified Passenger Safety Inspectors on Tuesday, May 27, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Babies-R-Us parking lot in Orem. Parents and care-givers will be shown how to install, adjust, and use child safety restraints properly in order to maximize their effectiveness. Information will be provide regarding the new Utah Booster Seat Law that went into effect May 5.

Technicians will explain which children would benefit from a booster seat, and help parent's to determine when an older child is ready to graduate from a booster seat to adult safety belts. Inspections will be conducted on a first come/first served basis. Spanish-speaking technicians will also be available.

The Utah County Health Department provides car seat inspections as well as classes throughout the year as well. For details or appointments, please call 851-7035.
