New logo ready -- Eagle Mountain Fire and Rescue team members have a new fire department patch and logo. Created by Cory King, a Utah County Deputy assigned to Eagle Mountain City, the design represents the full time department and its new image.

"I am excited for the change as we have transitioned from an all volunteer department to a combination full time and part time member fire department," said Fire Chief Rand Andrus. "It is fun to create a new identity as well."

 

Volunteers needed -- The City of Saratoga Springs has projects available for youth and other groups looking for service hours.

While general liter and clean-up is most needed, some park improvement and tree planting projects are also available to help to beautify the community. Anyone interested in finding a project for their group should contact Spencer Kyle at the city offices at (801) 766-9793.

Outreach meeting -- The City of Saratoga Springs is hosting a Neighborhood Outreach Meeting in Harvest Hills Tuesday at Harvest Elementary, 2105 Providence Drive, from 6:30- 9 p.m.

The open house is an opportunity to ask city officials questions or share concerns regarding your home and area. The police, fire, building, planning, public works and other departments will be represented and ready to provide information during the 2-hour meeting.

Special Olympics fundraiser -- The Saratoga Springs Police Department and Utah Special Olympics would like to invite everyone to its first Special Olympics Tip-A-Cop fundraiser on Friday from 5-9 p.m.¬ 

Uniformed officers will work in Café El Lago, 262 E. SR-73 in Saratoga Springs, waiting tables and accepting "tips" from customers to help support Special Olympics athletes.

Police Week --¬ In conjunction with National Police Week, beginning the week of May 15 each year, the City of Saratoga Springs has declared May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which it falls as Police Week in order to honor its peace officers and all police.

The resolution for Peace Officers Memorial Day was unanimously approved by the City Council and signed by Mayor Tim Parker. City staff will have the national flag flown at half staff on this day.

Military Week declared --¬ Eagle Mountain City Council members approved a resolution declaring the week of May 26 as Military Appreciation Week in conjunction with National Military Appreciation Month in May.

Urging all citizens to recognize and honor the dedication and commitment of the members of the United States Armed Forces, the proclamation reads in part:

"Whereas, It is important to instill in the youth of Eagle Mountain City the significance of the contributions and the relevance of the history of our great nation that members of the United States Armed Forces have made in securing and protecting the freedoms that United States citizens enjoy today ...."

Early deadline -- The North County Newspapers will have an early deadline for celebrations for the May 29 edition. Those who wish to place weddings, anniversaries, missionaries or birthdays in the paper for May 29 need to make their submissions by May 23 at 2 p.m.

The deadline for obituaries, public notices and classified advertising remains May 27 at 10 a.m. The North County Newspapers are located at 399 E. State Road, Pleasant Grove. More information may be found by calling the office at 756-7669.

Writer needed -- North County Newspapers is looking for correspondents to report on events and submit profiles in our communities. The individual will be expected to write one to two articles a week in addition to gathering short news items from Eagle Mountain, Saratoga Springs, Lindon, Pleasant Grove, Cedar Hills or Lehi.
