If you were born prior to the explosion of the baby boomer population, I'd start worrying. There's a growing population within this group who I call the "privileged generation" who have had it all given them with little expected in return. You could call them the "spoiled generation," though I will admit, a few among them have been very productive and made life easier for many in this country, maybe too easy.
Unfortunately, there's a growing population representative of their offspring that haven't a clue as to the evolution of this country and where it's going. They do, however, have knowledge of trivial information that will have little or no bearing on their future. Most of these first-time or little-older voters don't know or have an adequate command of: how to use a slide rule (I wouldn't want to be stranded in space with no communication, computer or backup); how their nation's history correlates to that of the world; science, math and technology (the U.S. is rated either sixth or seventh in the world behind the Pacific Rim countries and Eastern Europe). We've become a nation of "users" not "innovative producers" as we once were.

But as long you have a trusty slide rule to get you out of that pickle... The opinion pieces of the locals are priceless.

But the government's schools ensure they're good "global" citizens in the New World Order!
