It's going to be rockets, planes and hangars galore for 4,000 Boy Scouts this weekend.
The Utah National Parks Council of the Boy Scouts of America is hosting an Aerospace-O-Rama today and Saturday at the West Desert Airpark in Cedar Valley.
The event is free and includes aerospace booths, a visit from Miss Utah, Jill Stevens -- who will appear out of thin air after the illusionist's show -- and an air show. Wid Tolman, who is coordinating the event, was preparing a hangar for booths Wednesday.
"What I'm doing right now is putting an F-16 into one of these booths," Tolman said.
The event is for Varsity and Venture Scouts ages 14 through 18 -- a group the Boy Scouts of America has a hard time reaching.
"They said if I could get 1,000 [boys to attend] they would build a monument to my name," Tolman said jokingly.
Council spokesman John Gailey said the event is aimed at boys who may be wondering what they want to be when they grow up and want to explore aerospace careers. He also said organizers thought the subject would be interesting, but they were unprepared for how popular the event would be.
"The registrations just started flying in," Gailey said.
The event has been financed entirely through donations. Tolman said he was adamant that the event be free. There are still spots available for the overnight camp out. Scouts can sign up at www.utahscouts.org.
