'Shenanigans' label rejected Print E-mail
Daily Herald

In the Thursday May 8, 2008 issue, Jerry M. Young wrote that Jackie De Gaston and James O'Neal claimed illegitimate handling of ballots at the Utah County Republican Convention. Jackie De Gaston protested but James O'Neal did not.

[Young] claims we didn't have a clue as to what is required to win a political campaign in Utah. I don't need to speak for De Gaston, a lawyer with college degrees; but I understand what is required to run against the most powerful state senator on Utah. An ancient Chinese general once said; "If you know more about your enemy than he knows about you, victory is assured." While Curt Bramble isn't my enemy, since he is my friend and neighbor, the principle applies politically. Curt and I agree on almost everything, except the "wedge issue" of nuclear power.

The letter implies that I don't trust Marian Monnahan. That hurts; she and her husband are neighborhood friends. I helped Marian work to re-elect Mayor Billings.

As for our alleged "blatant attempt by the education community to take revenge against anyone who voted for the voucher bill," Jackie De Gaston is for vouchers. I'm for putting emphasis on better public schools but no one directs me in who or what to vote for.

You got it backwards, Jerry. Look up "shenanigan" in the dictionary.

Do we have one neighborhood acting in collusion to run this state?
