• Today is the last day to register for a historic trail ride along the path taken by Captain Simpson in 1858 to establish a new route from Fort Bridger to Camp Floyd near Fairfield. The ride will take participants to Forts Bridget, Scott and Douglas and will spend a night in Evanston, Wyo. The trip will cost $130 based on double occupancy. For more information about the tour or the 150th anniversary of Camp Floyd, call 768-8932. • Morris Academy is seeking host families for teenage exchange students. Fifteen students are coming to Utah from the Basque region of Spain at the end of June and will stay through July. The students all speak Spanish, Basque and conversational English. or visit www.morrisacademy.com. ALPINE • The Planning Commission of Alpine City will hold a public hearing tonight at 7:00 p.m. at Alpine City Hall, 20 N. Main. The commission will receive public comment regarding proposed amendments to articles 4.5 (Minor Subdivisions), 4.6 (Major Subdivision) and 4.10 (Financial Responsibility) of the Development Code. LEHI • The Lehi Police Department's annual Tip-A-Cop fundraiser, which raises money for the Utah Special Olympics, will take place Friday and Saturday at the Applebee's restaurant in American Fork, 313 W. State Road. Five to eight off-duty Lehi police officers will be busing tables and doing other duties, and all tips will be donated to the 2008 Special Olympics Utah Summer Games, which begin May 29. Lehi is one of many law enforcement agencies raising money for the Special Olympics. • The Utah Department of Transportation allowed students at Snow Springs Elementary to name the new east-west highway that will connect Redwood Road in Saratoga Springs with Interstate 15 in American Fork. The new road will be called Pioneer Crossing Boulevard, and construction will start in the fall. The students submitted about 50 names which were pared down to about 5 finalists, and a UDOT panel selected the name from those finalists. PROVO • For the 18th Annual Neighbors Make the Difference Day, KeyBank will close its branches at noon and employees in the Provo/Orem area will volunteer their afternon at the Girl Scouts of Utah Camp Trefoil Ranch in Provo Canyon. KeyBank volunteers will help prepare the site for summer camps by cleaning windows and floors at the lodge, setting up tents and preparing the stables for the horses. In Utah, more than 115 KeyBank employees will be making a difference in their neighborhoods. SPANISH FORK • The Spanish Fork High School Band will host a pancake breakfast Wednesday from 7:30 to 8:40 a.m. at Spanish Fork High School, 99 N. 300 West.
