The Lehi City is home to future quality leaders according to Lehi High School Principal Chuck Bearce.

He spoke specifically about the class of 2008 whose students will graduate May 29 at the BYU Marriott Center at 4 p.m.

Student speakers at the commencement exercises will be Stephanie Baker, Todd Lenhart and Ben Omer. Chad Sloan will be speaking as the senior class president. Bearce will also be speaking as well as a representative of the Alpine School District administration.

"You know what I would say about the class of '08 is this is the class that has truly learned to care about other people," Principal Chuck Bearce said during an interview Monday. "They've reached out to the community, they've reached out to strangers, they've reached out to their classmates in many ways."

He said from what he has seen at the school, "Our community is going to be in good hands with these future leaders."

One instance where he saw such exemplary leadership was during the Cancer Awareness Drive,

"The Awareness Day was just enough to make anyone cry as kids were wearing colors representing different cancers," he said.

Another project students took on was the annual Mascot Bowl and a Sub for Santa.

"[They] reached out to kids that our students don't even know and as they went shopping with them with friends just a tremendous effort and with teary-eyed big kids with their little friends as their little friends went shopping," Bearce said.

There were so many examples of giving this year, in supporting their athletic, concerts, drama and other events, the students were noticed for their demeanor receiving several accolades, he said.

"As the students have traveled, we've been told that they are truly ambassadors for Lehi and Lehi High School, that they have behaved themselves the way that we would want them to and that is not something you can always say but this is a class that is truly caring about others."

Lehi High School became a 5A level school this year and several state awards were won.

"And again representing not just as athletes but as people, as good sports," he said. "Our seniors have been a big, big part of that and we're going to miss them."
