Family Fun Night --The Eagle Mountain Youth Council, Miss Eagle Mountain royalty and staff members are hosting a free carnival for Family Fun Night on June 2 -- face painting, games, the kids can win different prizes.
A Concert in the Park will follow the carnival at the Silverlake Amphitheater. The pre-event carnival activity begins at 6:30 p.m. and the concert will last until 8 p.m. Those attending are encouraged to bring picnic blankets, pillows, and picnics for their families to enjoy during the concert. There will be free candy, cotton candy and popcorn. Other concessions for a nominal fee may be available. Health and Safety Fair--The Health and Safety Fair will be held at Nolan Park from 6-8:30 p.m. on June 3. Admission is free. There will be a blood drive, an medical helicopter, Meals on Wheels, about 50 booths representing a variety of services geared toward Eagle Mountain demographics. With one of the largest communities of veterans within its city limits, the fair also will have several nonprofit organizations coming out that can help soldiers when they return home to get counseling and jobs if needed. Pancake breakfast -- The firefighter-hosted May 31 pancake breakfast at City Hall is having a pancake table where Miss Eagle Mountain royalty will help children decorate their pancakes with butterflies, smiles and other designs. The event begins at 9 a.m. and cost is $2 per person or $5 per family. Movie under the Stars-- "Horton Hears a Who" is playing at the SilverLake Amphitheater with free admission on June 6. Gates open at 8 p.m. Bring your popcorn, pillows and blankets and the kids in their PJs. Suggested donations are $2 per person or $8 per family. All proceeds go to the Pony Express PTA. Pony Express Days Parade --The classic family entertainment for a city celebration, the Pony Express Days Parade is June 7 and begins at 10 a.m. at the Pony Express Parkway west of the Ranches Parkway and travels east on Pony Express to Smith Ranch Road. Have kids bring bags to store their candy and other treats thrown out at the parade. The parade has more than 100 entries: two bag pipe bands, military processions, the city's mayor on horseback, mammoth floats, business entries, dignitaries and state representatives. Helicopter rides -- For fun in the air, there are Pathfinder Helicopter tour rides available for $35 per person at the Ranches Academy June 5-6 from 5-8 p.m. and June 7 from noon to 8 p.m. Dutch Oven Cook-off -- Building success upon success, Eagle Mountain's Dutch Oven Cook-off is back with more entries and more flavors on June 7 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Nolan Park. Come watch the fun as entrants concoct their winning Dutch oven dish. Midway West Carnival -- Carnival presale tickets are $15 for 30 tickets and are being sold at all three Eagle Mountain elementary schools with 10 percent of the ticket sales going back to all the schools' PTAs. At the Midway West Carnival at Nolan Park, rides will cost two to four tickets a ride. On-site tickets are $20 for 30 tickets, $15 for 20, or $1 per ticket. The carnival and vendor booths will be open 4-9 p.m. June 5-6 with the Saturday carnival opening at noon and closing at 9 p.m. Writers needed -- The North County Weeklies is looking for correspondents to report on news and to write profiles of people in several communities.
