Whether it's at the electric boat parade, the wakeboard competition or the world record water fight, residents are sure to get a little wet. Events will kick-off this year on Saturday, June 14 at 9 a.m. with a model airplane show put-on by the Utah Valley Aero Modelers Association. Kids and parents can watch planes in all sizes and styles twist, turn and hover over the Utah Valley Aero airfield. There will be a raffle and concessions. Novices can try their hand at flying with help from the experts. "It's going to be a very good show," said club secretary Don Trendler. "The helicopters are spectacular. They'll hover upside down just above the ground. They can do about anything." On Monday, June 16, residents can enjoy a picnic at Marina Park where Hawk Watch International will give a lecture on raptors featuring live birds. "We have done this event for a number of years and it's always a big hit," said city events coordinator Mandi Johnson. "People like to learn about the mysteries of nature."
