BURGLAR CAPTURED -- It was less than two weeks ago that 22-year-old Kevin M. Thacker was captured inside the cab of a truck stealing items in the middle of the night.

On Sunday morning, June 1, Thacker was caught once more, this time by a man returning home early from a church meeting. The victim pulled into the driveway of his home in the area of 500 West and 1000 North at about 10 a.m. and opened his garage door to find a stranger's vehicle parked inside the garage. Thinking someone might be inside his home, the victim went to a neighbor's house to notify the police, The neighbor kept a lookout while the homeowner was on the phone with the police and reported that a suspect had jumped the fence in the backyard and was running from the area.

Officers arrived and identified Thacker running from the area, dressed in white clothing. He was found to have cash, prescription medications and two iPods in his pant pockets that he'd stolen from the victim's home. The Ford Explorer parked in the garage belonged to his mother.

Thacker told officers he'd walked through the neighborhood earlier and supposedly found a garage door opener laying on the ground. He came back in his mother's Explorer and opened the garage door and found it empty. He then pulled in and closed the door behind him. He was still taking things from the home when the homeowner returned unexpectedly and blocked his getaway car in the garage.

Thacker was booked, yet again.

MOTORIST ASSIST -- A woman called the department Friday afternoon, May 30, needing assistance because she was locked inside her own car. The battery died and she was unable to open the car doors to let herself out. Officers responded to assist, but the woman couldn't understand them as they tried to communicate with her while standing outside her car door.

Using hand gestures, the woman instructed the officers to call her on her cell phone. Once phone contact was established, the officer was able to instruct the woman on how to manually operate the slide lock mechanism on the inside door panel to open the door and free herself.
