'Saturday's Warrior'
An LDS musical favorite, "Saturday's Warrior" is celebrating its 35-year anniversary with a professional tour this month.
The performance will include the classic "Saturday's Warrior" tale, followed by an intermission and then a performance of the musical's sequel, "The White Star."
Written by Doug Stewart and Janice Kapp Perry, the sequel continues the story of Jimmy Flinders, taking place 35 years later when he has a family of his own.
Along the Wasatch Front, "Saturday's Warrior" and "The White Star" will be performed at Cottonwood High School auditorium on six dates between June 13-23, and on June 28 and June 30 at Roy High School. Tickets are $14 to $19. For more information, visit www.LDSmusical.com or call (888) 35-YEARS.
'The Curious Savage'
A comedy that teaches lessons about greed, acceptance and sanity will be performed at the Hale Centre Theatre in West Valley City this summer.
Back by audience request, "The Curious Savage" is set in a Boston asylum in the 1950s. The story revolves around a wealthy family who has just received a large inheritance after the death of the family's partriarch.
The play is written by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning playwright, John Patrick.

Utah County artist grants
Five Utah County visual artists recently were awarded grants from the Utah Arts Council.
Totaling 20 artists and $28,181, the grants were given for painting, sculpture, mixed media and filmmaking through the 2008-09 Individual Artists Services Grants program.
Local grant recipients include Namon Bills from Spanish Fork, Day Christensen from Highland, David Linn from Elk Ridge, Lauri Olson-Lisonbee from Salem and Roland Thompson from Cedar Hills.
