Perfect date: Mexican princess Print E-mail
Daily Herald

Learn from the coming-of-age story of a young Mexican "princesa" named Esperanza, and take courage.

Ask your special someone on a date this weekend to hear the non-traditional fairy tale based on the award-winning young adult novel "Esperanza Rising."

Performed by the Brigham Young University Theatre for Young Audiences, the play tells of a girl who falls from the wealthy life of Mexican landowners to the hardships of life as a crops picker in California.

Still, the story is touching. A story of trial. A story that may just make your date shed a tear on your shoulder.

"Esperanza Rising" is being performed at 7:30 p.m. through June 14 at the Pardoe Theatre, Harris Fine Arts Center at BYU. Tickets are $7-$12 and can be purchased by calling 422-4322 or at www.byuarts.com.
