Pleasant Grove's City Council approved new fees for the city's new recreation center at a recent City Council meeting. Jay Dee Nielsen, Recreation Manager, presented the proposed fees to the Council.
According to Nielsen, the fees will be higher than the current fees because the new center will have much more than the current center has. "We currently have seven pieces of cardio equipment and the new center will have 24 pieces. We currently have five to seven weights and will have 24 pieces and a complete set of free weights," he said.
Additionally, the new center will have three gymnasiums, rather than one. It will also have locker rooms and showers.
The new family pass price will be $325 per year. The previous family pass for residents was $200 per year.
An individual resident pass will be $150 for adults and $95 for students. Senior couple residents can get a pass for $140 per year. Couple resident passes will be available for $250 per year. Non-resident passes are available for higher prices.
The previous individual resident pass was $125 per year.
Another change that will be in effect as of July 1 is that only Pleasant Grove residents will receive the resident rate. Previously Lindon residents also received the resident rate. According to Nielsen, students who attend Pleasant Grove High School but live in Lindon will have to pay the non-resident rate for a pass.
Enrichment classes and sports prices will not see a change.
"They will pretty much stay the same," said Nielsen. "We're anticipating adding a few more enrichment classes and more adult basketball leagues. We also plan on offering adult volleyball."
The opening for the new center is tentatively planned for July 1. There will be an open house with guided tours during Strawberry Days, June 18-21 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. During these days, people will have the opportunity to purchase annual passes at a 15 percent discount. The new center is located at 547 S. Locust Ave. |
