The lazy days of summer began with quite a bang at the Family Fun Night on Monday. As part of Pony Express Days, local residents were invited to celebrate the joys of family with a night of food, games, and music in the park.
The green grass of the SilverLake Amphitheater filled with an assortment of adults and children for a night of free fun. With a myriad of carnival-style games such as crazy bowl, a dinosaur rock toss, a ring toss, face painting, a craft table, free balloons and popcorn; the kid's excitement never stopped. Also present were several local businesses including Radio Disney, K-Bull 93, Red Robin, and The Oak Pit BBQ. The smell of grilling food wafted through the air as participants competed in the many fun games and competitions. While waiting to dig in to a fresh order of Red Robin food, Brittany Armstrong said, "The food smells so great, and everything looks amazing." Over by the game booths, Emily Vimahi said, "The kid's favorite activity has been making picture frames at the craft booth, and the best part of the whole night is that most of it is free." Similar sentiments floated all around the Family Fun Night. If the carnival games, food, and other entertainment were not enough, attendees could also enjoy a free concert featuring the Lehi Silver Band and Y Mountain Productions. The amphitheater quickly became covered in a patchwork of blankets as families joined together to listen to the smooth-rolling tunes.
