Rockwell Charter High School

 

Spirit Week -- This week is spirit week. Students will have an opportunity to elect student body officers and participate in acquaintance activities. Today from 7-9 p.m. students are invited to participate in games and getting-to-know-you activities at Silver Lake Amphitheater in Eagle Mountain. Tomorrow from 7-9 p.m. students are invited to watch student body officer candidates' skits, voting by 7th and 8th graders and a concert by Dust Jacket. Saturday from 7:30-10:30 p.m. high school students are invited to a High School Dance for 9th-12th grades. High school student government officers will be elected at the dance. Admission is free for enrolled students; guests' admission at the door is $1.

Saratoga Splash Parade

All students are invited to walk in the parade at 10 a.m. on June 21. Check-in is at 9 a.m. Students are encouraged to wear a navy blue or gold polo shirt.

Swim Party

Seventh- and eighth-graders are invited to a swim party at the Lehi Legacy Center from 9-11 p.m. on June 27. Admission is free for enrolled students. Guests may pre-purchase tickets for $1. No tickets will be sold at the door. For more information contact Stacey James at 789-3818.

Lehi Parade

All students are invited to walk in the Lehi Round-up Days Parade at 10 a.m. on June 28. Check-in is at 9 a.m. Students are encouraged to wear a navy blue or gold polo shirt.

Willowcreek Middle School

Refunds -- Refund checks must be cashed by June 30. Checks not cashed by June 30 will be considered a donation to the school.

Cedar Valley Elementary

Bookmobile--Summer Bookmobile schedule begins today from 10-11:30 a.m. in Cedar Fort at the LDS Church on S.R. 73 and Center Street The Bookmobile will stop in White Hills on Eisenhower Street from 12:00-1:15 p.m. beginning today.

Harvest Elementary

Summer Library-- The school library will be open for students on Mondays during the summer On June 16, 23 and 30 the library will be open from 10 a.m.-noon.

Bookmobile-- The Utah County Bookmobile will have summer stops at the Harvest Hills LDS Chapel from 2:30-4:30 p.m. beginning today.

Pony Express Elementary

Summer Library-- The school library will be open for students on Wednesdays from 1-3 p.m. during the summer.

Saratoga Shores Elementary

Summer library-- The school library will be open during the summer every Monday from 9-11 a.m. for all students and their parents. All books must be returned by Aug. 4. School dress standards apply. A parent must accompany and stay with their children.

Bookmobile-- The Utah County Bookmobile will have summer stops at the Harvest Hills LDS Chapel from 2:30-4:30 p.m. beginning¬  today.

Children's Festival at Sundance

The Sundance Children's Festival, Saturday, June 14, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., offers a celebration of nature, art, food and entertainment. Set beneath the majestic Mt. Timpanogos, this year's Children's Festival offers activities that are both fun and educational. General admission to the festival is free, but there is a charge for some of the activities and refreshments.

Featured activities include avalanche dogs, a fire engine firefighters, crafts, face painting, pony rides, food vendors and live entertainment.

Family Art Days 2008

Children and parents are invited to attend Family Art Days today. June 12 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. A variety of fun family activities based on the theme "MOA Knights" will explore artworks from the exhibit "Masterworks of Victorian Art." Activities will include stories, art activities, dancers, face painting, film festival, treats, balloons and other surprises. Admission to Family Art Days is free and open to the public. Family Art Days events are designed so children become active participants in the learning process. For more information about this event call the museum at (801) 422-8287.

Children's Art Festival

The Springville Museum of Art is holding an outdoor children's art festival on Friday, June 13, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This free community event celebrates children, creativity, and the arts. Children can experience art, music, dance, theatre and storytelling.

Storytelling Performance

Orem's newest and youngest up-and-coming youth storytellers will share their best yarns and stories in this special performance, Friday, June 13 at 7 p.m. Free. Orem Library, Storytelling Wing..

Mormon Miracle Pageant

Experience history of the Book of Mormon and the founding of the Mormon church at this free outdoor pageant, held today through Saturday, June 12-14, and June 17-21 at 9:30 p.m. on the Manti Temple grounds, in Manti.

Utah Chalk Art Festival¬ 

The 6th annual Chalk Art Festival will be held on June 13th and 14th at the Gateway in downtown Salt Lake City. Come see artists create beautiful, temporary works of art. Artists will be at work on Friday from 4-7 p.m. and on Saturday from 7 a.m.-4 p.m.

Frontier Fest

The sights, sounds, and color of the 1847 frontier come alive at Gardner Village 1100 West 7800 South, West Jordan, on Friday and Saturday, June 13 and 14. Musicians, dancers, storytellers, quilters, and craftsmen will perform and exhibit from 10 a.m. -9 p.m. both days. Free events include Clog America Friday 12 Noon, Old Time Music Festival Saturday 11:30 a.m. and Little Buckaroo Pioneer Parade (dress your child in period costume and win prizes). Pioneer reenactments and bluegrass folk music will be performed throughout both days.

Utah Asian Festival

Come celebrate culture, diversity and the Year of the Rat at the largest Asian community gathering in the state of Utah Saturday, June 14, from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., at the South Towne Exposition Center, 9575 S. State, Sandy. Free admission. Asian communities from more than 10 countries attend the festival, including Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Filipino, Malaysian and Cambodian. Experience music, dance, and a marketplace with Asian foods, crafts and art.

Highland Games

Athletic, music, and dance competitions held throughout the day at Thanksgiving Point on Friday, June 13, with a 5:30 p.m. concert at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, June 14, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., concert 7:30 p.m. Come experience the Celtic life at the Utah Scottish Festival and Highland Games. Watch the athletic competitions. Listen to Scottish bands compete, watch traditional celtic dancing. Visit dozens of merchants and food vendors for traditional and modern food and drink. Tickets: Friday, $7. Saturday: Day, $10 adult, $7 children; Sat. concert, $5. Event pass for both days Adult $13, Child $10.

Venture Outdoors Festival

Millcreek Township celebrates its 3rd annual Venture Outdoors Festival Saturday, June 14th, 2008 at Canyon Rim Park, 3100 S. 3100 East, Salt Lake City. The free, family-friendly event features live music, free kids run, health and recreation clinics, rock climbing, creative children's activities, and good food. The events begin at 7:30 a.m. with a 5K run and conclude with a star party at 9:30 p.m.

BYU Earth Science Museum

See dinosaur skeletons and touch real fossils from the Jurassic Period, approximately 210-140 million years ago, at the BYU Earth Science Museum, 1683 Canyon Road, Provo. The collection includes two fully mounted Allosaurus and Camptosarus skeletons are on exhibit along with complete skull casts of a Tyrannosaurus Rex. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday. Free admission.¬

Monte L Bean Life Science Museum

Beautiful mounted African animals, Birds, Fish, Mammals, Arthropods, Insects, Reptiles, Shells, and an herbarium for view at the Monte L Bean Life Science Museum, 645 E. 1430 North, Provo. Live animal shows are held daily, usually at 7:30 p.m. Phone for more information at 422-5051. Hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Saturday. Free admission.

Museum of Peoples and Cultures

Current exhibits include Touching the Past: Traditions of the Casas Grandes, and Kachinas of the Southwest free to the public at Museum of Peoples and Cultures, 700 N. 100 East, Provo. Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday. Free admission.

Mornings at the museum Parents and children ages 3-12 are invited to a free hour of cultural exploration held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. or Thursday at 1:30 p.m. Register with the museum to reserve your space by calling 422-0020.

Museum of Art

Enjoy works from the museum's permanent collection of American Art in "American Dreams," paintings done in the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries by American artists at the Museum of Art, North Campus Drive, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday-Friday; Noon to 5 p.m., Saturdays. Free admission. Two temporary exhibits include "Masterworks of Victorian Art," on display through Aug. 14, and "Dismantling Geneva Steel: Photographs by Chris Dunker" on display through November 1. Museum Treasure Hunt

Spend part of your summer exploring all four of these interesting and exciting BYU museums. Pick up a Treasure Hunt "map" at any of the museums and locate the treasures indicated within. Each person who completes the treasure hunt can turn in his map for a small prize and be entered into the end of summer drawing.

Family Night on the Farm

Every Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. it's "Family Night on the Farm" at Thanksgiving Point's Farm Country. Experience a variety of farm and barnyard animals. Admission is $3.50 per person ages 3 and over.
