A few days ago our beloved President, George W. Bush, paid a visit to Utah.
I do not know the specific number of airplanes used to transport him and his entourage but I assume that other than Air Force One there were at least two other large aircraft, plus fighter jets flying cover. There were also a number of helicopters. In addition there were numerous vehicles, including limousines, police motorcycles and a fire truck and ambulance. Two questions have come to mind after pondering this visit:
One: If this was fund raising for a Republican, why should Democratic tax payers be required to help fund this visit?
Two: With gasoline at $4.00 per gallon and many struggling to buy gas for getting to work and other necessary movement about town and with large truck owners parking their vehicles -- why was this trip considered necessary?
After all, McCain had already sewn up the candidacy for the Republican party. Next time I purchase gasoline I will ponder the number of the poor working people that are forced to pay excessive prices for fuel while their leaders can hop around the country with no thought of amount spent.
