I just don't understand why Jason Chaffetz didn't run in his own district (2nd). We have a solid conservative in the 3rd district in Chris Cannon. We have a Democrat in the 2nd. Why not run there, if he's really concerned about Congress not being conservative enough, etc.? Or does he just want to get to Congress for himself?

For those so inclined you can vote early all this week at the Utah County building in Provo.

Jason can live anywhere in the state of Utah and run for Congress in any district. He lives within two miles of the boundary (the new boundaries soon to include his residence). It's called the constitution. Jason believes in it and will be sworn to it. Apparently Mr. Cannon, and obviously you, are not. Think issues, not geography.
Please, Please...name just one, anyone, who has campaigned for political office that did it SOLELY for the common good of the people. First and foremost ensuring their beliefs, core values, and political platform are maintained, they then are all opportunistic and will take the path best suited to get them in office. Mr. Cannon did the same thing. Jason has made it very clear that BOTH Chris Cannon AND Jim Matheson need to go.
I'm gonna take a crack at voting on the 24th though. FOR JASON!

As a delegate to the state convention this year, I became weary of hearing how Matheson must be removed because of his party affiliation. I wanted one candidate to tell me what Jim had done poorly for Utah and more importantly what they would do better for Utah. Dont wave your Republican credentials, pretend I am intelligent enough to vote for the best candidate not party. I think Cannon was shocked that anyone would dare run against him as a Republican.

This is ALL about Jason looking for an opportunity. When Rod Decker pushed him on why he's running against Cannon he admitted that it's because Cannon is easier to beat. WHAT?
We can't do things like this to ourselves. This shouldn't be about Jason wanting to be a Congressman. Unfortunately - that's what it is.
I'm voting Cannon on June 34th!
June 34th? Shows how knowledgeable you are on the process!!!!! Joe Cannon, is that really you?

Matheson scores 55% by the NRLC on abortion issues, which classifies him as "Mixed". For some conservatives, including myself, that's usually enough to vote Republican.
However, aside from his wishy-washy stance on abortion, I understand the man has turned down at least some of his congressional pay increases. How can anyone NOT love that?
