If you are interested in developing a great hunting partner, you might want to attend this weekend's dog-training seminar.
According to recent information received from Jeff Nicoles, the German Shorthair Pointer Club of Utah (GSPCU), along with the Brittany and Vizsla clubs of Utah, are beginning their summer series of one day training seminars beginning this Saturday at 7 a.m.
The clubs will meet in a large open field about a mile west of the Eagle Mountain turn off on SR-73. (Just keep an eye out for a large gathering of trucks, dogs and people on the north side of the road.) SR-73 is the road that runs through the middle of Lehi and out to Cedar Fort.
This event is free and open to the public. Those trainers involved would like to invite all pointing dog breeds to come and participate. This is a "hands-on" event, so be sure to bring the pooch along. It will be as much fun for him/her as it will be for you.
Some of the best hunting dog trainers in the country are right here in Utah. They will be on hand to demonstrate just what these amazing dogs are capable of when trained properly and to share their years of experience with all who are interested in getting the most out of their hunting companion.
There will be stations for puppies through fully broke hunting and field trial dogs. So no matter where you think your dog is today, there will be something both you and your dog can learn at this event.
This is a great place to see all the pointing breeds if you're still trying to decide what you want in a hunting dog. It's also a great place to meet like-minded people who share your interest in dogs and hunting. Many hunting trips and hunting partnerships were formed out of last year's events.
Come and spend the morning with them. They will try to be done by about 11 a.m. so there's plenty of time to get home and get all your honey-do's done around the house. You'll be glad you did.
