PLEASANT GROVE
• Strawberry Days is this week. One of the oldest city celebrations in Utah County, Strawberry Days takes its name from the strawberry fields that historically made up a large portion of the city's economy. Now the event's major draw is a rodeo, which runs for three days. Children might like Huck Finn Day, where they can fish and participate in other activities. Also check out the pie-eating contest, quilt show and concert in the park. For more information, call (801) 785-5045 or visit www.plgrove.org.
PROVO
• The Festival Latino-Americano 2008 is now accepting applications for food and non-food vendor booths for its Aug. 29 to Sept. 1 celebration. It's a great opportunity for your business to become better known in the Hispanic community. For more information call Centro Hispano at (801) 655-0258.
SARATOGA SPRINGS
• Saratoga Splash begins today. The celebration kicks off with a baby contest and a model airplane show, and wraps up with an attempt at a world record water fight on Saturday. The fight begins at 1 p.m. at Harvest Elementary, 2105 N. Providence Drive. Bring a water gun. To break the record, the fight needs about 3,000 participants. After that, catch some of the live entertainment and watch the parade. There will also be a wakeboard competition at the city marina, an outdoor movie and a "sprint, stroll or stagger" 5K race. For more information, call (801) 766-9550 or visit www.saratoga-springs.net. |
