UVSC to UVU transition timeline:

• Sept. 6, 2006 -- UVSC breaks ground on new library.

• December 2006 -- Request for mission and name change submitted to Utah board of regents.

• Dec. 31, 2006 -- Ira and Mary Lou Fulton help raise $1 million for the school, contributing half of the amount themselves.

• January 2007 -- State Sen. John Valentine, R-Orem, drafts Senate Bill 70 requesting university status, the name change and $10 million for the transition.

• Jan. 30, 2007 -- UVSC President William Sederburg watches the Senate Education Committee pass SB 70.

• Feb. 27, 2007 -- SB 70 passes the Utah House and the Senate.

• March 19, 2007 -- Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. signs the change from UVSC to Utah Valley University.

• Nov. 30, 2007 -- UVSC unveils a new look with new UVU logos and a new Web site and seal.

• March 21, 2008 -- The state board of regents approves UVU's first master's degree in education. The first class will start fall of 2008.

• April 25, 2008 -- The last graduation as UVSC. Graduates have the option of ordering a UVU diploma, but it won't be available until after July 1.

• June 3, 2008 -- Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. speaks at and tours the nearly completed library, calling it inspiring.
