Local team plays for the gold at Utah Summer Games Print E-mail

The Mapleton/Springville Hound Dogs Basketball Team traveled to Cedar City to comete in the Utah Summer Games.

The Hound Dogs were in competition June 16, 17 and 18 and played two games each day for a total of six games.

Coach Johnson said the boys played excellent basketball and played really well as a team.

Their scores were as follows: Hound Dogs vs. Spanish Fork, 42,25; Hound Dogs vs. St. George, 71, 14; Hound Dogs vs.Las Vegas, 53,32; Hound Dogs vs. Sandy, 30, 52 and Hound Dogs vs. Spanish Fork, 40,15.

The Hound Dogs made it to the Gold Medal game having four wins and only one loss.

They were up against the team from Sandy, and it was basket for basket, very hard fought and well played with all team membersw contributing to the game.

"They gave their all and fought hard to the end, but came up short, winning the Silver Medal," said Coach Johnson. The final score was Hound Dogs 47 vs. Sandy 56. Congratulations Hound Dogs!

Members of the team are Abe Durrant, Caleb Johnson, Garret Clark, Hunter Davis, Jake Dixon, Kaden Hillstead and Kai Weight.
