About 90 volunteers from Zions First National Bank, spent almost 300 man hours scraping and painting a local a home here in Spanish Fork for the company's annual paint-a-thon last week.¬
The project began Monday June 16 and ended Thursday evening.¬ Zions bank provided the supplies, dinner and t-shirts for all the volunteers.
"Zions bank has been doing this for 18 years, "said Kathy Brandon Paint-a-Thon team captain. "Our volunteers came from Spanish Fork, Provo, Heber, Payson and Santaquin."
Volunteers scrape, prime and paint a home for a low-income elderly or disabled home owner who couldn't do it themselves.¬ Sherwin Williams of Provo and CAL Ranch helped with paint and supplies and Santaqueen drive in helped prepare food for all the volunteers. Jim Fredricks and Ed Christianson also helped with the event.
This year's home owner appreciated all the hard work in her behalf.
"The first night the homeowner decided to leave to stay out of our way, "said Brandon.¬ "When she returned she found the shrubbery cut back and the home primed, she mentioned to me that she was going to leave again the next night because she liked surprises and she didn't usually get many."
Fifty-four homes throughout Utah and Idaho were renovated with over 3,000 volunteers helping with the project.¬ The Paint-a-Thon is the largest single-employer volunteer event of its kind. |
