Lehi City's Round-Up Days took on a somber hue at the traditional Picnic in the Park Monday evening.
A banner hung on the portable stage read "Our thought and prayers are with Captain Terry and his family."
City Councilman Stephen Holbrook began the entertainment for the picnic at Wines Park with a prayer for the families and officers involved in the shooting that landed Harold Terry in critical condition at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center Monday morning.
"We're glad to report that he has gone through surgery and he appears to be doing well," Holbrook said.
Lehi peace officers were able to stay away from public scrutiny regarding the very recent tragedy with the help of Saratoga Springs law enforcement officers who took over crowd and traffic control at the picnic.
The Utah County Sheriff's Office will also be helping during Round-Up Days for some of the activities and events, said Holbrook.
Miss Lehi Emily Daniels dedicated her opening song "Jesus Take the Wheel" to Terry. Other singers at the Picnic in the Park featured additional works of faith such as Jenny Allred's solo of "Only Hope" and her and Brian Allred's rendition of "A Prayer."
Tuesday, Lehi police sponsored a baby contest as part of Round-Up Days. With only three days left of Round-Up, half of the city celebration activities are just getting started.
Tonight is one of the longest All-Horse Parades in Utah starting at 6 p.m. at Wines Park, 600 N. 100 East and ending at the Lehi Rodeo Grounds at 200 N. 500 West.
