Today is the last day for UVSC. At the stroke of midnight tonight it becomes UVU.
The celebration starts at 1 p.m. with a library showcase at the new Digital Learning Center. There's the free Family Fun Fest from 4-6:45 p.m. west and south of the McKay Center, a concert at 7 p.m. in the Brent Brown Ballpark, fireworks at 10:30 p.m. and a dance on the tennis courts from 10:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
Seating is limited for the concert, so the school advises people to bring blankets to sit on the grass.
All parking will be free.
Lot U is reserved for handicap parking, lots T, N, S, Q, P, R, Y and V are open for public parking.
There will also be a street closure -- 1200 West will be closed at the roundabout for westbound traffic from 4-7:30 p.m. today. All traffic will be directed east on College Drive to help traffic keep moving because there will be construction on University Parkway. The school is also encouraging celebration attendees who will be coming from the north to take the Center Street exit from Interstate 15 in Orem and use 1200 West to get to campus.
