TRICYCLE THEFT ARREST -- A woman called Orem police on Saturday to report a vehicle theft, but it wasn't her car she reported stolen -- it was her daughter's tricycle. Police arrested 21-year-old Miguel Alejandro Monroy after seeing him riding the ill-gotten three-wheeler down Orem Boulevard, according to Orem police spokesman Lt. Doug Edwards.

The woman who reported the theft said she had gone to Kmart with her daughter, who rode her new tricycle to the store. When they came back outside, the tricycle was gone.

Edwards said Monroy is a known gang member, and gave the arresting officers three false names. Monroy was booked into the Utah County Jail.

BURGLARY FOILED -- A burglar was able to get away after breaking into an Orem business, but he had to leave his loot behind thanks to a vigilant citizen. Orem police said dispatch received a call early Tuesday reporting a suspicous-looking person walking near 200 West and 300 North with what appeared to be a rifle. Police did not find the suspicious person, but they found six metal detectors that had been stolen from Prospector's Supply. The metal detectors are valued at more than $9,000.

RAGSDALE CASE -- Greg Skordas, the defense attorney for David Ragsdale, filed a motion asking to withdraw from the case on Tuesday. Ragsdale is charged with shooting his wife to death in the parking lot of a Lehi LDS meetinghouse in January.

FIREFIGHTER -- A Provo firefighter pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor counts of simple assault on Tuesday over a prank that went a little too far. Larry Glen Harris, 53, entered a plea in abeyance in Provo's 4th District. His plea will be held in abeyance for 12 months and he will be required to complete an anger management course.

Deputy County Attorney Chad Grunander said Harris fired two blanks from a fake gun at two colleagues in the dining area of a Provo fire station. The three had been involved in a series of pranks, Grunander said. Harris recently resigned from the fire department.

MULTIPLE BURGLARIES -- Orem police are looking for thieves who broke into three businesses early Monday. Police believe the same person or people broke into Subway Sandwich, Mac Docs and Goodwood Barbecue. Twelve laptop computers and 25 iPods were stolen from Mac Docs.
