Volunteers needed -- Meals-On-Wheels needs volunteer drivers in Lehi, one day a week, for one hour, in a four-mile delivery radius from the Lehi Senior Center at 123 N. Center St.

Volunteer drivers are the people who actually deliver the meals to elderly, ill, frail or disabled seniors in their homes. They use their own vehicles to pick-up the food, 8-11 meals, at the Lehi Senior Center. The individual meals are packed in hot and cold food containers.

The route takes about 30 minutes to an hour to complete. The Tuesday route is now open. Please consider volunteering on Tuesday for one hour, once a week or as a back-up substitute.

If you are interested in delivering Meals-On-Wheels, please contact Liz Merrell at 229-3821 or send an e-mail to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it , or contact Erin Dyreng at 229-3803 or send an e-mail to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

Seniors will see more fruits and vegetables, more whole grains, more fiber, less fat and less sodium in the meals. Milk will be one percent instead of two percent. Desserts will be served rarely.

Meals will be suitable for persons with diabetes, heart disease and hypertension. A list of the number of carbohydrates in each food item on the menu can be made available so that diabetics can make an informed choice of what they will eat based on their own individual carbohydrate requirements.

The suggested donation for the meal is still $2 for 60-plus seniors and $4.90 for those 59 years old and younger.
