Quilt Show winner -- First place "People's Choice" quilt winner for the Strawberry Days show was Erin Summerill.
"I was shocked that I won because I thought mine was a more simpler quilt than some of the others," Summerill said. "It was only my third attempt at quilting. I saw the designed pattern in the Broadbent's store in Lehi and went home and tried it out with different colors and prints that reminded me of the beauty of my home in Hawaii and here in Pleasant Grove." She said Ella Lung quilted beautifully closely placed cherries that were echoed in the prints and Tammy Merryweather hand bound the beautiful red binding on it for her. "This quilt has been a true friendship quilt," she said. The only award given was the People's Choice Award for the Quilt Show. The theme for the Children's Art/Fine Arts Show and the Quilt Show for 2008 was "Everyone Comes Home for Strawberry Days." Orson Herrmann's favorite quilt was designed in bold Red, White and Blue colors. "I really like the patriotic quilt. It is very striking. We are very patriotic, so I like the Americana Quilt, that's going to be my vote this year." -- Wendy Cook Free Concert -- Counterclockwise, a rock-country band from Pleasant Grove will give a free concert Friday starting at 7 p.m. at the Battlecreek Park pavilion, 846 E. 200 South.
