Vanessa Hudgens to perform in Utah
Attention all "High School Musical" lovers: Actress and singer Vanessa Hudgens, who stars as "Gabrielle" in the successful Disney movie franchise, will be a headline performer at this year's Utah State Fair.
Beginning in September, the two weekends of competition and fun are part of the Dish Network Grandstand Entertainment and will include several different shows.
Hudgens will be performing at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 5, and tickets go on sale July 11, priced at $18. Tickets can be purchased at all Smith's Tix outlets, by calling 1-800-888-TIXX or online at www.utahstatefair.com. For the list of other grandstand performers, visit the fair's Web site.
Utah Symphony at Sundance
Celebrating America's independence among the mountains and blue waters, the Utah Symphony will perform its annual "Patriotic Celebration" at Deer Valley and Sundance resorts this weekend.
Starting off at Deer Valley Outdoor Amphitheater on Friday evening, the concert will include classic patriotic melodies, such as Gould's "American Salute" and Sousa's "Stars and Stripes Forever."
The concert will be repeated the following evening at Sundance resort in Provo Canyon.
Tickets for both concerts are $12-$75 and can be purchased by calling (801) 355-ARTS or by visiting www.deervalleymusicfestival.org. Ticket prices will increase $5 the day of the performance.
International piano competition winners
Six young piano artists shared $28,000 in prize money at the Gina Bachauer International Young Artist Piano Competition in Salt Lake City last week.
An audience heard the finalist performances on Saturday, though the total 29 pianists competed throughout the entire week in two age categories from ages 11 to 18.
Competitors hailed from Japan, China, Germany, Austria and France, among numerous other countries.
The first- through third-place winners, respectively, include Sijing Ye, of New York City and China; Kenric Tam, California; and Jonathan Floril, Spain. |
