Payson police said a man arrested in a domestic dispute not only threatened the arresting officer and his family, but emphasized that he knew where the officer lived by describing his home and vehicles.
Leonardo Licea-Alfaro, 41, was booked into the Utah County Jail on Saturday on a multitude of charges, including terroristic threats, resisting arrest, failure to stop, domestic violence-disorderly conduct and driving under the influence.
According to an affidavit filed in Provo's 4th District Court, Licea-Alfaro told officers that he had been deported to Mexico once before, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement ordered that he be held at the jail.
Payson police responded to a home near 300 East and 900 South after Licea-Alfaro's wife called police and reported that her husband was chasing her in his car. Licea-Alfaro hit an awning while trying park his car as officers tried to pull him over, the affidavit said.
According to police, an officer shot Licea-Alfaro with a Taser as he tried to chase his wife into her home, but he pulled the wires out of his body after a few seconds and continued toward the door. Licea-Alfaro was pepper sprayed and restrained with the help of a bystander.
A Spanish speaking officer reported that Licea-Alfaro said he was going to kill his wife, and later threatened to kill her after returning to Mexico.
At the hospital, Licea-Alfaro told a police officer that he knew where the officer lived and would shoot him in the head with an AK-47 assault rifle, the officer wrote in his report. The officer paid little attention to the threats until Licea-Alfaro began describing the officer's house and vehicles. The officer wrote that Licea-Alfaro, who refused a sobriety test, laughed after making the threats. |
